From spec to crane

Made to be lifted

Every tender starts as a specification, chosen with you. Aboard a superyacht it then reaches the water by crane, so we settle three things before it meets the yacht: where it lifts from, how its tower comes off and what it weighs on the hook.

A white MasterCraft X23 wake tender, as specified in the builder’s online configurator

00 Specified

The colour combinations are endless. Hull, flake, wrap and tower are chosen with you in the builder’s own configurator, before the order is placed.

  1. Metal template marked STB, drilled with four holes for a lifting point, on a workshop bench

    01 Templated

Each lifting point is set out on a template for its side of the hull, before a drill touches the boat.

  2. Machined metal backing plate with four countersunk holes and a central slot

    02 Machined

Backing plates, machined to spread the load of the lift across the hull.

  3. Hull side of a white wake tender with four freshly drilled holes below the chrome rub rail, the boat on its trailer

    03 Drilled

The hull, drilled and ready for its new lifting eye.

  4. Dial dynamometer shackled to a new chrome lifting eye on the hull of a white wake tender

    04 Load tested

The new lifting eye, fitted and read under load on a dynamometer.

  5. Digital load cell hanging between two shackles

    05 Weighed

Loads are read on a load cell at the hook, not taken from a brochure.

  6. Three technicians in overalls around a wake tender as its white tower is lifted clear on a sling, in a workshop

    06 Lifted clear

The tower comes away on the hoist, leaving a lower, lighter boat to crane and stow.
